The National Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC
I mentioned in my last post that Kathy & I had recently made two trips north. The first one was at the end of November to Washington, DC. It was my first time there, and Kathy’s first since she was in school. We went primarily to attend a concert at the Kennedy Center, but also managed to sneak in a visit to the National Air & Space Museum, which was truly a highlight for me. I’ve mentioned before that Kathy is a big (not!) fan of airplane museums, but even she was impressed with this one. Either that or she was just amused at how enthusiastic I was!

The trip was a quick up and back, staying just two nights at the Watergate Hotel before escaping DC just ahead of a storm system.
For anyone interested, I’ve posted a gallery of photos from our trip on my Adobe Portfolio page.

When I was a kid, growing up in the Chicago ‘burbs, there was an Aurora space capsule (the 4th in the Mercury program) in the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. Even as a child, I was astonished that these guys would go up into space in these tiny little tin cans… crazy. And supported by less technology than we now routinely wear on our wrists. Even crazier.
Good that you got to go to the KENNEDY center before it’s insane renaming.

Yeah. Insane and reportedly illegal. Not that that’s stopping anyone.
Interesting though how a group of Irish guys managed to fill the house, even on a quiet weekend. Not everyone is crazy. Yet!
And like you said, those astronauts had a lot more cojones than me to go up in those tin cans!
