      They were actually restored in the (I think) 90s so while the body is original, the running gear is actually a Ford RV chassis. It still rode like – and the heater headed like – a 90 year old truck though!

    That’s one cool vehicle. I could see fun in touring around in that, but not packed full of people! 🙂 Two and some dogs at most.

      According to the guides, the park once owned dozens of these buses, originally used to transport guests from the train station in Gardiner, MT to the various lodges. With the proliferation of personal car travel the vans were sold off and purchased by random companies and individuals around the country and beyond. The eight currently in use were repurchased from a company in Skagway, AK before being restored for use at Yellowstone. Some of the others were in fact purchased by individuals for transporting their families!
